• Clay extraction
Clay, the main component of ceramic products, is extracted from the quarry and stored in homogenization beds.
• Shredding, blending and grinding
Before entering the factory, the clay is broken down by reducing and homogenizing the size of the grain. Next, clay, tempering agents and additives are mixed, using separated dispensers. Finally, grinding is carried out with rolling mills and/or mills, achieving a second reduction in grain size.
• Kneading
The clay mixture is introduced into the kneader, here the first addition of water will take place, to obtain a plastic mass, moldable by extrusion.
• Molding
The clay is passed through the extruder, and the air that could contain the dough is extracted and pressed against a mold by a vacuum pump obtaining a bar shaped in the shape of the product.
• Cut and stacked
The shaped bar is passed through the cutter, to acquire the final dimensions of the product. The ceramic material is stacked on racks or trucks before being introduced into the dryer.
• Drying and cooking
The dryer is used to reduce the moisture content of the pieces to 1-2%. Subsequently, the material is introduced into the cooking tunnel for the firing process, reaching temperatures of 850 °C to 1,200 °C.
• Packaging and storage
The ceramic pieces are unstacked from the wagons and packed on plasticized pallets and stored in the outdoor patio waiting to be transported.
